Zehnder & Sommer International GmbH has, with immediate effect, taken over all the operations of Zehnder & Sommer AG, which was forced to file for bankruptcy following the write-off of a major project that was discontinued two years ago and a bank’s reaction that showed no willingness to reach a consensus. As this potential residual risk had already become apparent a year ago, we were able to prepare for this step well in advance thanks to an investor. The transition is made easier by the fact that the intellectual property and naming rights have belonged to the new company for the past nine years. We will do everything in our power to continue serving our customers with as little disruption as possible.
Who is Zehnder & Sommer International GmbH ?
Zehnder & Sommer International GmbH was founded in 2013 as PackPreSense GmbH. Since 2017, it has held the intellectual property and trademark rights (registered) for Zehnder & Sommer and has since been solely responsible, behind the scenes, for managing these rights on behalf of Zehnder & Sommer. As a result, the renaming to Zehnder & Sommer International was actually planned as early as 2017, but as there was no immediate need at the time, this final step was not completed until April 2026.
Staff, Contact and Location
Since 2 June 2026, the core team of staff has been taken on from Zehnder & Sommer AG. This means that most of the contact persons you are already familiar with will remain the same.

From mid-June, the company and its staff will be moving to new premises in the local area, where, in addition to sufficient office space, we will now (finally) be able to set up a proper production hall once again.
What will happend to the orders ?
All new orders will be processed by the new company with immediate effect. We will continue to work with our key existing suppliers and partners. Orders placed with and currently being processed by Zehnder & Sommer AG will also be taken over through a takeover offer, ensuring that any deposits paid by our customers are not lost and that equipment now being delivered remains covered by warranty.
We apologise for any delays caused by the transition, but we assure you of our full cooperation and support. We are currently doing everything we can to ensure that this transition phase is as short as possible and that normality is restored as soon as possible.
