Roll Options

Steel Roll surfaces

Standard

Grinded, high quality hardened steel.

Knurled or grooved steel rolls

Hardened stell rolls with a knurled or grooved surface can further increase the friction properties rolls.

This reduces the risk of slippage, especially with lubricated or greased materials.

Hardalloy

Hardalloy is an extremely hard, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant coating with very good tribological properties.

A higher friction is achieved with a Hardalloy coating than with a ground roller.

Hardalloy rollers lose their high friction over time and become smooth. However, these rollers can be machined again in the Hardalloy process and then regain their original roughness.

Topocrom

TOPOCROM® is a process for the production of structured surfaces (reactor coating). Individually adjustable surface topographies are available depending on industrial requirements.

A hemispherical structure is formed on the coated surface. This surface offers great advantages in sheet metal forming. Adhesion between the mould and the sheet metal is reduced, and adhesion and welding effects are avoided.

The indentations between the ‘hemispheres’ also create hydrostatic lubrication pockets. The Topocrom surface ensures uniform wettability with lubricant.

Topocrom has very hard properties and increases the friction coefficient of the roller. If the roller surface wears over time, the coating can be renewed.

Rubberized Roll Surface

PU (Polyurethane)

Very robust layer of plastic elastomer for higher friction and gentle feeding of sensitive materials.

Favourable for use with films and sensitive surfaces.

Certain greases, oils or cleaning fluids can attack and damage the PU material (e.g. swelling). Only liquids compatible with PU may be used for lubricated materials and maintenance. Please contact us to harmonise the materials used.

NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber)

Robust layer of synthetic rubber for higher friction and gentle feeding of sensitive materials.

Favourable for use with films and sensitive surfaces.

NBR has a higher resistance to mineral oils, greases and cleaning agents. With the use of oils and greases, the NBR roller surface can become brittle (stronger than PU) and change the adhesive properties. Please contact us to coordinate the materials and applications used.

FDA-approved rubberised material

Standard PU- or NBR-coated rolls are not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for applications in the health and food sector.

There are FDA-approved material versions of both NBR and PU. Let us advise you.

Knurled or grooved rubber rollers

Rubber rollers with a knurled or grooved surface can further increase the friction properties of rubberized rolls.

This reduces the risk of slippage, especially with lubricated or greased materials.

Profiled rolls

On request, profiled sections or profiled groves can be incorporated into the rolls.

Applications:

  • Recesses for profiled materials
  • Guides for materials that are difficult to guide, e.g. wires
  • Material guidance at specific points to protect material from pressure loads

Segmented rolls

Available for the following roll feeds:

  • EV DR 080 / 160
  • EVD DG 080 / 120 / 220
  • EV RE 080 / 160
  • EV RF 240 / 320
  • EV RX 080 / 160 / 240 / 320
  • EV TK 12 / 22
  • EV TM 112 / 122 / 132
  • EV XM 160 / 240 / 320

On the R devices (EV DR, EV RE, EV RF, EV RX) the rolls are interchangeable with the standard rolls.
